Core Principles

At Stray Dog Designs we:

support sustainable jobs throughout the world by creating employment where it's needed most.

Our products are currently handmade by artisans in Mexico, where half the population lives in poverty, and in Haiti, where before the January 12, 2010 earthquake almost 80% were unemployed.  Our papier mache products are hand painted in the USA;

seek out artisans who have history and skill in the mediums we choose so they can work in their own areas of expertise, keeping their rich traditions alive.

Our glass, iron, and tin products are handmade by artisans in Mexico.  Our papier mache products are handmade by artisans in Haiti and Mexico;

make sure our artisans earn a fair, living wage to support their families;

use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible

Our papier mache products are handmade from recycled materials;  our glass lamps are mouth blown from 100% recycled glass;  and our iron and tin are recyclable;

donate a portion of every sale to organizations that improve lives -- both human and animal -- through our Stray Giving program.
